I would have liked Fielder to have talked more concisely of the piece's she was making and how she made her decisions of how she put things together... I sometimes find i useful to set a few rules or restrictions for your self before making a piece rather than a statement.
A few other artists you might want to look at. Kate Kretz, Orly Cogan, Adam Niklewicz, Tamara Kostianovsky. One thing you might want to do is to critique an artist’s web site. As this is becoming the normal way for artists to showcase their work, how would you want a site to look and what sort of functionality should it have? Try Adam Niklewicz’s site, it’s slow to load and this could be a criticism, but it has some interesting approaches to work.
ReplyDeleteIt might be useful to do some research into how you images could be put onto other surfaces. Even if you cant afford it, going through the process of costing an idea, sometimes throws up alternative solutions that you had not thought about before. E.g. a commercial outlet such as http://www.laseretching.co.uk/what.htm offers one type of service, there would of course be a very different outcome if you went down to the print-room in Vernon Street and asked how you could get an image transferred and etched into stone.
